For a long time, the Samsung Galaxy S II has stood out as the best Android phone. Today, even the device’s biggest fans have to admit that it faces stiff competition, primarily from its stable-mate the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, but there is still a case to be made that the Galaxy S II is difficult to beat.
The big advantage that the Samsung Galaxy Nexus has over the Samsung Galaxy S II is that the former supports Android Ice Cream Sandwich, the latest version of Google’s operating system. Whilst it is possible for this to be installed on the Galaxy S II, doing so means taking a risk and using an unofficial ROM – something that doesn’t always end well.
It would be understandable if Samsung decided to place the Galaxy S II on the back burner. After all, the Galaxy Nexus is a newer model and many consumers are already starting to get excited about the Galaxy S II, which should make its debut sometime in 2012.
